T61 broken inverter

when my display is set as my thinkpad LCD (not an external source), i hear a hissing noise and the screen eventually shuts off.

someone told me it might me my inverter. how do i confirm it is my inverter and now the LCD itself? and how do i replace/fix the inverter. thanks.

The only way to confirm it is the inverter is to replace it. Refer to the T61 Maintenance manual for the procedure.

darn, i have the 14.1 SXGA+ standard screen.


where can i buy a replacement inverter or find the FRU for mine?


edit: looked through the PDF and found this

I have no idea, but normally if two manufacturers are listed for the same part they are both compatible.
