Hi,

Occasionally my T61p's OSD will show a brightness level indicator and the brightness will change. I'm not ready to blame gremlins just yet but is there something that causes this to happen after a certain idle time?

Check the timers in Power Manager.

Also if changing schemes in the Presentation Director, it is possible to configure different screen brightness per scheme.
