What do you mainly use your T6x for?

Just wondering what people on this forum mainly use their T6x for, apart from the emailing and web surfing.

Ha...you've left out the option I would've gone for first: absolutely nothing.

Many a times that we've owned a T60p, my wife and I always came to the conclusion that it was getting nowhere near use and attention it would normally call for, and that's why the last one got sold a while ago...great machines these are, nevertheless.

I hope that not having discrete graphics doesn't exclude me from this poll... having a T60, not T60p that is.

I can only select 2 options? But I do more than 2 thing son my 'Pad.

Gaming (WoW, DeusEX, Master of Orion II)
Programming (Visual Studio)
Web Design (also programming, Dreamweaver)
Light photo editing for clients
A ton of MS Office Stuff
Maintaining servers via RDP / VNC / ... sessions
DB Maintenance
Web and E-Mail of course
Music Listening
Network stuff (talking to Cisco routers / switches)

My T60 is my main machine. It get used for more than 8 hours a day and has been on helluva trooper for me. It still looks great, is fast and light.

Interesting. Why didn't you keep in instead of the A31p/T43p then? Are there particular needs satisfied by those older models and not by the newer one?

T43p is sufficient for all of our needs at this time, and being that it's a fairly unusual example, I'd have a very tough time parting with it.

As for A31p...being without one brings me bad luck. Call it ridiculous superstition if you will, but that's the way it is. There's got to be at least one in the house, hooked up and working 24/7/365.

I also by far prefer the keyboard feel of A3x and T4x to ones I've experienced on T6x units.

Another thing to consider is that there are always machines passing through here, and I'm really never short on units with high-processing power...

And I positively detest windows key on ThinkPads... :)

Yeah, just 2 options that you would consider the main things that you do. Currently on my Toshiba Satellite (I don't have a T6x yet) I mainly use it for animation and illustration. I'll listen to music, play a shoot em up and write a document or two, but my first and foremost use is for my artwork.
It may seem a little contrived, but the results of the poll are very interesting:)

I have to say that my T60p is rapidly becoming my be-all, end-all computer, and even my M1730 is becoming relegated to sitting on my desk and powered off. Why? The T60p has decent battery life(3 hours on a 6-cell, and I have two 9-cells and an Ultrabay in reserve), its performance in general productivity applications is pretty good, and it's been a great fit for school... plus the fact I can move up to a QXGA screen later on once I decide I have the time and money to throw at it.

I personally chose writing and gaming as my two primary uses for my T60p, although I don't game as much since I've started school. I tried out several titles last weekend to see what the V5250 would accomplish, and it has actually exceeded my expectations. Far Cry 2 is playable on this machine, albeit at lower quality settings and SXGA+ resolution. Keep in mind this is on Vista x64, and everything on this machine runs smoothly. The only thing I really need is more storage space, and a couple of good 500GB drives plus an Ultrabay adapter would make short work of that.

Taking it to school hasn't been a problem., either. Everyone else I've seen in my classes has a notebook large and thick enough to make my 15" T60p look small. In fact, the only machine I've seen smaller than this is a classmate's T400... and I have to say I wonder how anyone can get a lot done on a WXGA screen. Ergh. I'll take my UXGA Flexview any day.

All in all the T60p has been my absolute best value in a notebook. I know I could have spent more and gone for a T500/W500 and gotten a few more goodies, but I will say I have gotten great performance and a wonderful screen at just about the same price. Just like my T21 that's been in use for nearly five years, I think this one's a real keeper.

Well, i must say that these results are very interesting. I was expecting to see a lot more "3D/CAD modelling" (well they would of gone for a higher spec machine by now so maybe not) but I definitely expected to see more "Photographer" or "Illustrators" users on this thread because of the LCD displays. Maybe they've all moved over to the W700 thread with the new screens!

@LegendaryKA8: I like your T60p set up:)

I do a lot of stuff on my T61 and most is either work related or very personal stuff.
It's kind of my stronghold, my most "personal computer" :P

My desktop is on 24/7 but mostly for downloading and keeping in touch (e.g., Live Messenger is always on), and to see the ocasional movie or whatever. It also works as storage for music, video and photos. And, to some extent, backup/redundancy.

Everything else I do on my T60, which included some programming (now I just don't have the time for that), mail and personal files management, some Office work, taking notes, some research, burning dual layer DVD's, accessing my modem/router when my Internet connection freaks out (my home network is 100% wireless), etc..
Still, all this takes uo very little time. Somedays I don't even turn it on. But everything that requires a lot of keyboard input takes me to my 'pad :D

Bringing up an old thread, but as the original poster I thought I would chime in and finally add myself to the poll.
I also appreciate the help given to me these months by everyone on this forum.

Animation and illustrations for me.
