WTF? Why would anyone want to do THAT?
But I guess this is to be expected from someone not able to build sentences. Look at the description, are we supposed to take a deep breath and read it all in one shot? And he dares to say it's in "great shape" and "looks almost new".

Re: Seen on ebay: HDD removal Overkill
My money says that they did not lift the lid to get the HD out, got frustrated, and took a Dremel to it to 'extricate' it.
That auction might be a good deal for someone with the skill to replace the bottom plastic base, but this guy seems rather unstable. Who knows what else he might have done to it.
Re: Seen on ebay: HDD removal Overkill
Perhaps he lost his hard drive password and wanted to use a different kind of "back door".sparta.rising wrote:Check out the pictures:

Re: Seen on ebay: HDD removal Overkill
My vote is that somebody had a security screw on the cover (like an allen-head screw with a pin sticking up) and couldn't get the drive out.

Is an abuse that
Maybe he wanted to put a 12.5mm height drive so he 'modded' the poor Thinkpad

Re: Seen on ebay: HDD removal Overkill
I bet it's stolen by someone who desperately wanted the data on the hard drive and had no time to take the tools and open it up properly. That's unnecessary brutality.
