Moded Drivers for Quadro NVS 140M

Hi!

I use my 14' T61 mainly for work but recently with NFS Shift release Ive wanted to stress my notebook with a bit of graphics. This didn't go that well ;) so I decided to get some moded Nvidia drivers (Lenovo's support of the Quadro NVS is quite poor). Unfortunately, while those are available at laptopvideo2go there is relatively little discussion on how they really perform in ThinkPads with Quadro NVS installed.

Is it worth it? Any good experiences using those?

Thanks in advance!!

I advise to use Lenovo's video driver for the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M. Some batches of these chips are sensitive to heat and you have no guarantee that a modified driver won't damage the graphics chip.

I'm using a modified 190.89 and haven't had any change in my heat levels. One thing with the modded drivers is they don't include any FN key control of brightness, nor does it work through the power manager or nvidia control applet. the screen will default to 'low' brightness.

I found a workaround, you might want to read this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=80848
