T60 freezes when using the touch pad and the red nub, but performs flawlessly for hours when using a USB mouse. Run all the updates, went through the entire ThinkVantage system test, all test passed, even reformatted everything and started fresh, no change. Any suggestions?

What happens if you disable the touchpad in BIOS and just use the Trackpoint?

I actually removed the touchpad/fingerprint reader from my laptop thinking that might solve the problem, but I use the nub and it freezes.

Get a new keyboard and try that.

I replaced the palmrest with the same results, I even restarted the computer, disconnected the the keyboard from the machine, used the touchpad, froze. I finally got through to Package Index Server, but it requires a charged battery to continue download, mine will not hold a charge. Maybe a BIOS thing or driver update? Waiting for a new battery and keyboard. Running out of options.....

Hard to believe, but I removed the battery while still plugged in, and it has not failed yet. I replaced the battery, moved the pointer with the touchpad, and it froze again. Who would have imagined that?
