Line In not working on T60

#1 Post by t20user » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:26 pm

I am trying to record from the line in on my T60 but it is not showing up in Windows volume control. When I go to Options/Properties/Recording there is only one sound device: SoundMAX HD Audio and the only options for recording are Stereo Mix, Microphone and CD Player. I have reinstalled the soundcard drivers from Lenovo, but it still does not show up. The microphone input works so I can't imagine this system was built without just the Line input. I have a 2008-CTO T60.

Any ideas? Did Lenovo build T60s that lacked Line In?

I would think you'd select 'stereo mix' as the input for line in. There should be a slider and a mute/un-mute for line in on the mixer panel.

I think my issue can be explained by this older thread...

I saw that thread when I was looking for an answer for you, but I do not think it pertains to T60's.

T60 does not have Line-in. Only Mic-In or Stereo Mix. T61 has the stereo mix broken as well.

I have a T60 - which has no stereo line-in - only mono mic-in. Does anyone know of an external stereo line-in adapter (e.g. either a PCMCIA card or a stereo line-in -to- USB, perhaps) that I can buy in UK, and use to record an external source from?

I have a bunch of old cassette tapes voice notes that I want to digitise but plugging my tape deck output into the mic socket gets me nowhere. Thanks.

Tascam products should be available in the UK. I use the original Tascam US-122 USB semi-pro audio interface. A more expensive alternative, which should also be available in the UK, is the professional grade Digigram VXpocket v2 PCMCIA card.

Thanks, Dale. I'll see if I can find either of those in the new year. Thanks for the advice.
