Heatsink strangely absent...?

Hi all, my T60 2007-BN5 fan has started making a grinding noise and researching here says I need to replace it before it breaks down. Out of warranty.

The problem is, I've looked everywhere on TPforum and IBM site - can't find the part number... it's absent from everything.

2007-BN5 is not listed here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62741.html

And even the parts list for my serial number doesn't show the fan/heatsink number: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... Results.vm

I'm conscious that I'm on limited time before the fan stops working... can anyone give any advice where I can find or work out the correct product number so I can order it and get it fixed?

Cheers!

Which graphics and processor do you have?

Thanks vinunero, I think you have already helped!

In looking for the graphics and processor info, I did a search and it says...

Product: ThinkPad T60 2007-BN5
Original description: Based on 2007-49H: T2400(1.83GHz), 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11bg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Home

...but I notice **Based on 2007-49H**. Does that mean I can use the heatsink for the 2007-49H model? If so, I think that's 41V9932 according to: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62741

Advice would be appreciated so I can order with confidence! Then, time to learn how to do the job! Will be first time I've opened the T60 beyond adding RAM so nervous but excited...!

All 2007 models have discrete video and use the same fan

Fantastic richk, thanks very much!

Any tips for replacing the fan/heatsink on a T60?

As long as you follow the instructions on the manual, it is strightforward.
