T60p gets no power from AC

My T60p just stopped accepting AC power. The plug light does not come on, and it will not boot without the battery installed. I have measured 20 volts at the plug and inside the computer at the internal plug on the motherboard, so I know power is getting to the machine.
The DC-side cord on my AC adapter is damaged and can short out on occasion. It did just before this problem started, and I'm almost certain this was the cause. I'm just wondering if it's permanent damage, or something that can be reset.

And you kept using it?
Have you tried another adapter? Hopefully its just the power brick that needs replacing.

I cut out a damaged section of wire, removed the insulation around the plug and soldered the wires to the plug (months prior to having this problem). Every laptop I've owned has developed this kind of problem with the AC adapter eventually and required a similar repair. It didn't have a problem with shorting out until just before this problem developed.
I don't have another adapter, and it's certainly possible that the adapter is supplying 20 volts and almost no amperage. I was hoping for a known issue of some sort that I could check.

Well, I'm new to T6x machines, but the second thing (first would be another power brick) I would do is check the fuses around the power input. Hopefully you'll get lucky and find the problem. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas!

Thanks for the info about the fuses - I didn't know there were fuses on the motherboards. It seems likely that one of those is the problem, but I haven't had any time to disassemble the machine to that point.
Edit: F2 is blown. I bridged it and was able to turn the machine on. Does anybody know the make/model of this fuse? I saw posts identifying fuses from other Thinkpads, but not the T60.

This is a tough task, soldering the thing or even finding the right fuse part#.

I just took the F2 off a T20 motherboard I had lying around and am now using it in my T60. It works.

Congrats! You must have steady hands and a good soldering iron!

I have moderately steady hands and a cheap 25 watt soldering iron from RadioShack. I used to have a Metcal STSS, but someone stole it.
