T61 Screen Damage
Hi, all--
While eating my Rice Chex, I recently dropped the spoon on my keyboard (oops). A small amount of milk hit the LCD and ran down under the bezel. I now have a smeared section on the bottom of the screen that's brighter than anything else.
I've posted a picture here (it didn't want to embed): http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VUisdbQkfGE/S ... G_4348.JPG
Has anyone seen this kind of symptom before?
I'm wondering if the screen is shot or if it might dry over time. It's been two days, and I haven't seen a change yet.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: T61 Screen Damage
Welcome to the forum.
The only way (I know off) to clean anything like that, is to take the LCD out, go into as clean and dustfree a room you can find, and then gently take the layers of the bottom of the LCD apart, and clean them individually.
It's built up of several layers, in between which your milk has crept.
To give you an idea, have a look at this: http://www.lcdparts.net/howto/troublesh ... CCFL1.aspx
You are probably better off getting another LCD.

Re: T61 Screen Damage
Ugh! That's not what I wanted to hear.
Anyone have a recommendation for a screen replacement vendor/technician? I sent an e-mail to ScreenTek, but I haven't heard back from them yet.
I don't really want to do the work myself, so if I can send it somewhere, that would be great.
Thank you!
