T6x EDID database

Due to the T6x's dependence on EDIDs in LCD panels, I thought I'd start this thread, in case anyone buys a panel for their T60 or T61 that isn't pre-flashed. Please post your EDIDs, what model laptop you have, and what model panel you have, and I'll put them in the first post. They'll be ordered in ascending screen size, 4:3 having priority over 16:10. Unofficial EDIDs will also be included, for instance for QXGA panels.
As of right now, I haven't gotten the T61 panels listed, but this is a complete (based on hardware maintenance manuals) list of T60 panels, plus the IDTech 15" QXGA (not the Samsung, I don't believe anyone has tried it, and when IDTech IPS panels are just as cheap, why buy a crappy TN panel) and the Sharp 14.1" UXGA.

This is a good idea. In case someone has one of these LCDs but is not sure what tool to use to pull the EDID, what tool did you use? Link?

Isn't the 13N7076 the HV150UX1-100 and not 102?

Phoenix EDID Designer will do it, save the EDID, and copy the contents here.

Worzyl: I was working from ThinkWiki mainly. Anyway, let me check my photos of my old 13N7076. (Edit: You were right, it was 100, not 102.)

Got a few PMs about the 13N7076 mistakes on ThinkWiki. Finally pulled myself together to update the page - should be correct now. I tried to do it as a single entry, but turned out bad.
Anyways, bhtooefr, great idea with such a thread!

I hate to throw cold water on the party, but it isn't that simple. The tools you are describing need the screen to be in a working system. If you have a panel with an unflashed eeprom, you need to access the chip directly using hardware and software to communicate directly to the chip with the chip not in an assembled machine. Also, most of the screens I've seen that fall into the "not compatible eeprom" category don't have unflashed eeid chips; they have no chip at all.

What about the PowerStrip technique, though?
But, yes, there are panels without chips. This is still, IMO, a useful resource.

I don't know about powerstrip. I'm not saying it isn't useful, especially for people (like me) who have chipreaders and technology to access the chips in unmounted panels.

Hi
The panel of my T60 2007VCE is a LTD141EN9B.
While trying to configure Xorg on my Gentoo-Box I stumbled across this EDID:
(II) RADEON(0): LTD141EN9B
(II) RADEON(0): EDID (in hex):
(II) RADEON(0): 00ffffffffffff0030ae224000000000
(II) RADEON(0): 35100103801d1578ea6f959c544c8726
(II) RADEON(0): 21505421080081800101010101010101
(II) RADEON(0): 010101010101302a7820511a10403070
(II) RADEON(0): 13001fd71000001825237820511a1040
(II) RADEON(0): 307013001fd7100000180000000f0090
(II) RADEON(0): 43329043280f010030649055000000fe
(II) RADEON(0): 004c5444313431454e39420a2020002d
Unfortunately it differs from you posted before in cell 10 and 7F.
As I'm having great troubles to configure my Xorg I was wondering wether this could cause an error. I can force Xorg to use a custom software EDID. But before I do that I would like to know wether someone knows the meaning of this discrepancy.
As it was suggested here I used Phoenix EDID Designer to read the EDID from another and confirmed Xorg's reading. My panel's EDID is
:1000000000FFFFFFFFFFFF0030AE224000000000B6
:1000100035100103801D1578EA6F959C544C8726A5

:00000001FF
I threw in an Ubuntu CD and it works fine. But it has a totally different approach than the way I would configure the X server by hand. And Windows XP works, too.
I apologize not to have use the "code"-brackets. But it seems inside the "bold/underline"-brackets are not permitted.
And I also want to point out that these hex-code snippets are potentially wrong!!
Is this normal? For example due to different versions or production dates? Or do I have a hardware Problem?
I brought my Thinkpad in once. But I doubt they replaced the panel. So it has to be an original part.
Thanx

If I remember correctly, the stuff around byte 10 contains a manufacturer's ID stored in three 5-bit letters. 00001=A, 00002=B, etc. Panels for thinkpads have the ID LEN, no matter who really made the panel. There is a checksum at the end.

Hi
Thanx, richk. I googled some more and in the end I landed up with wiki. The English Wikipedia site has a very nice discription of the EDID code and what it means. In my case the panel was build a couple of weeks later wich changes the production week in byte 16. And therefore the check sum in the very last byte is different, too.
Actually I'm sorry it's not a problem with th edid code. Could've forced a custom one.
Happy reading for those interested.

I tried to fit a Samsung LTN141P4-L02 in my T61. The panel comes from a T42.
When I try to flash the EDID (using powerstrip), I get the message: "An EDID EEPROM was not detected on the selected monitor".
Is there a way to enable EDID on this panel?

For andykrej, the Samsung T42 panels don't have the eeprom to flash.

What does this translate to? Will it work as it has no chip or it cannot be used because of the missing chip?
It's quite interesting though as - according to
ThinkWiki and
Lenovo - this Samsung panel used in both T42/43 and T60.
Or am I missing something? I'm in the same boat with a T60...

It is a different revision of the same samsung part number. The one without the chip will not work in t60 and may damage the motherboard

I have prepared EDID extraction and LCD model identification guide, hope this helps to speed-up database building process. This thread is really necessary. Plese put the link to the guide at top of the thread. I also suggest adding after each model listed in 1st post hyperlinks to the posts containing EDID data. This thread should be also linked in the post that opens the thread LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions - anybody could contact thread owner?
In order to be sure a panel not listed in this thread is suitable for t60, it is necessary to find some tech manual of the model you intend to buy, like
that one for Samsung. Unfortunately the data is hard to find. Thanks to the documentation one can be 100% sure every LTN150XG-L02 fits into 15'' T60* with XGA inverter (note, LTN150XG-L02 is glare, not matte!).
PLEASE help building EDID and panel compatibility database! Someday you might need it as badly as we do today! It will take YOU no more than 15 minutes - and might spare OTHERS a lot of time and money!
I think we should not restrict the models to those listed as FRU in manual - there must be quite a lot of various models not mentioned in maintenence manual - that will work with t60*. If anybody has ever succeeded in replacing FRU part with non-FRU part - should let others know.
On an unrelated note - this thread should be renamed to LCD compatibility issues and EDID flashing.
Huge list of panels and laptops:
http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/lcd.p ... aptops.htm -could be helpful

I have a 15" R60 (non-wide), which went through some changes.
It originally came with a 1400x1050 panel, which broke.
I do not have the EDID from this one, I just threw it out.
I replaced that with the following display, which began to fall apart as well after a while, but I do have the EDID.
15.4" 1400x1050 LG Philips LP150E05 (A2) (K1), FRU 13N7078, P/N 13N7077

I replaced this successfully with an IDTech FlexView panel from an old T42, it didn't work right away so I flashed the old EDID to it.

Hello,
I apologize for the perhaps silly question, but rather to ask than do something wrong.
I have display BOE-Hydis HT14P12-100, which would seem to be compatible with the T60, but it doesn't have FRU 13N7046, it's FRU is 92P6737.
Can I use this display in T60?
Thanks

I believe T43 14" SXGA panels don't ever work in T60 and can cause damage.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I would think that as long as the connections are the same, they should be compatible. The only thing that could be wrong is the EDID of the display. The T60 accepts only certain EDID's, so if it does not work right away you need to copy your old EDID to the new display. At least that is what I did, and it worked like a charm. See the post above yours.

It's not that simplle. T4x/R5x 14" XGA panels made by LG and Samsung (most screens) have no eeid to flash. T4x/R5x 14" SXGA screens have different LCD pinout and can cause a fuse to blow.

It's not that difficult either, but you must find technical manual for the model you have (e.g.
Samsung LTN150XG-L08, make sure the model and the revision has EDID stored in EEPROM. If it has EEPROM, then you need another laptop with the same LCD, extract the EDID, flash into your new screen. If your model does not have EEPROM, don't even try to assemble it into your laptop.
