T61 Card Reader Problems

I have not been able to use my card reader. I'm not sure exactly how to trouble shoot the issue.

Last spring, I used it weekly to backup my documents, but I didn't use it at all over the summer. Now that school has started back up, I would like to make frequent backups again. However, when I insert a SD card, nothing happens. I just updated to Win7 x64 today, and it still doesn't work. Windows update installed the Ricoh xD-Picture Card Controller, and per device manager, it appears to be working fine. Yet, it does not recognize any media.

Do I have the wrong driver? Any thoughts?

*edit* I also tried installing the drivers from lenovo's support site. They installed properly as well, but it still won't read a card. Note, I used the Vista/XP drivers which support both 32 and 64 bit.

The normal technique when something like that mysteriously happens is to uninstall the device out of Device Manager and then allow a reinstallation. If it fails, you've wasted a minute or so out of your life.

Thanks ArtShapiro. I've tried that. It reinstalls, but still does not work.

The green access light doesn't come on either when I insert a card.

Do you have another card you can try?

Just to rule out a bad or incompatible card.

Yes, I've tried other SD cards. And, the SD cards that I tried work in other cardreaders.

I can not even find the driver for card reader. Where did you find the driver? The Lenovo website only shows me a beta version: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... .html#rmcr

These drivers are latest i believe.
Driver releases from lenovo are rare now...
I use generic drivers for video & audio also, works fine.

I am having the exact same issue on T61 with Win 7 x64. Was there a final solution to this issue? Would love to get my card reader working again. TIA
