T60p/Advanced Dock/Matrox P650/Windows 7 - no display...help
I have a T60p with an Advance Dock using a Matrox P650 video card to drive two external 22" displays. This setup has worked great in Windows XP and Windows Vista, but on Windows 7, the external displays do not detect any signal after Windows loads the Matrox driver during the boot sequence.
If I boot undocked and then uninstall the driver, I can restart and external monitor 1 displays fine. I can then load the Matrox SE driver and display on both external 1 and 2 just fine without a restart. If I shut down and restart though, external monitor 1 will display the boot screens until the driver loads and then signal drops to the display. I also cannot view the TP LCD while in the dock station either. Given that I have no display anywhere when Windows boots into normal mode with the driver loaded, I'm at a loss. I can boot into safe mode, of course. If I swap hard drives and put my Vista drive back into the machine, everything works great, so I'm fairly certain that it's nothing BIOS related.
Anyone with this same setup have any success with Windows 7 and dual displays with the Matrox P650 video card?
Thanks,
Jason

Methinks you need to go to Matrox, in the hope to find any W7-specific drivers.
I have a 64MB AGP P650 in my PC, and when I installed W7 RC on it, it ran without any problems with these drivers:
Matrox-vxp_206_02_004_se_u_whql.exe
I don't have any other monitors though.
I think you need to set the refresh rate to 60.
Can't check anymore, because I removed W7 already.

Thank you for replying.
I did download the latest drivers from Matrox and the release notes state they are Windows 7 compatible. The drivers do work correctly immediately after install, so all is good there. But on restart, something within Windows 7 is hosing because the displays lose their signal altogether.
Frustrating.

Go back to Vista or XP, and wait till W7/SP1 comes out.
You had problems with XP/SP3 back in June 2008, and reverted back to XP/SP2 which works great for you.

Why do you need W7 now?

Re: T60p/Advanced Dock/Matrox P650/Windows 7 - no display...help
The official word from Matrox is that they do not support the P650 in Windows 7 in this configuration and that they have no plans to do so. So at this point I'll need to find an alternate card since, due to my line of work, I do need to upgrade to Windows 7.
If anyone else who upgrades to Windows 7 has a similar configuration as me and finds a card that works well, I've started another thread at http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=82773 to discuss that.

Doesn't W7 have an XP compatibility mode?

Perhaps you can use the internal graphics? T60p is in the list.
