Persistant Rescue and recovery problems

#1 Post by Padhead » Sun Dec 06, 2009 6:47 pm

A couple times a year, I have to do a full factory restore. Every time that I use Rescue and Recovery I have problems. The Minintapi.exe or factory.exe files are missing or corrupted.

Secondly, the Rescue and Recovery doesn't show up in the ThinkVantage folder or anywhere in XP for that matter. In other words, I can't launch it without hitting the Thinkvantage blue button during a boot up. Once this happens, only partial functionality is available, primarily a full restore.

Consistently sick of this problem during the last couple full restores, this time I upgraded the CSS to the appropriate v8x, and I upgraded RnR to v4.21. But I still have the same problem. and I cant access RnR without doing a full restore, and when I do that I still get missing Miniapint.exe error message.

This laptop is a T60 (2007-73u) and had been upgraded by the reseller to Hitachi 160GB 7200RPM.

Man I sure would appreciate any help on this puzzle. Thanks again.
