Anyone using the Hitachi 500gb 7k500? Will APS work?

Wondering if anyone is using this Hitachi 500gb 7200rpm 2.5" drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822145275 in their T60 and can comment on the speed/noise/etc, especially vs a stock Hitachi 80gb 5400rpm or 100gb 7200rpm drive.

Also, it doesn't appear that this drive has any G-Force protection like some of the Seagates and Western Digitals... will APS work with this drive? (as a side quesiton, does APS even work with those seagate and wd drives that have the g-protection or are the features redundant and cause more harm to run together than one technology at a time?)

Thanks!

I found the following thread in case anyone else finds it useful: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=431402

Looks to be pretty fast and quiet.

Still unsure whether or not APS supports this drive, however.

APS is not on the drive, it is built into the Systemboard of the Thinkpad. So it's not if the drive will support it (all do), it's a matter of whether of not your model of Thinkpad has APS. By the way, Frys has these drives for $99.

NewEgg had for $80 last week with free shipping. The $9 shipping is deal killer for me. You can probably do better on eBay with bing.

Thanks guys, I understand that APS is not a HDD feature but a computer feature; I thought I had read on Lenovo's APS site a while ago that only compatible HDDs would work, but I don't see the same message on that page any longer.

Looks like a good buy and I'll hopefully be picking one up soon.
