I want to upgrade my baby for the holidays. Getting her an SSD and maybe a new processor. I was just wondering if the socket type was the same.

You didn't say which computer you have, but since you've posted in T6x series, it doesn't matter, since AFAIK, the P9500 will not be compatible with any of them.

In the case of a T61 it's a chipset issue.
In the case of a T60 it's a physically different socket.

The best processor you can put in a T60 is the core duo T7600. Your not going notice a huge increase in speed if you upgrade from your processor (T7200).

So is socket Micro-FCPGA not the same as Socket M or P? Because I've found T7800's with similar socket types as the T2500. The only difference is Core 2 Duo vs Core 2

Probably a silly question but anyway: I have a spare Q6600 desktop CPU, but i guess it's not compatible for my T61?

No - the sockets are completely different, for a start.
