Integrated Camera

My T61p (14 inch 4:3 screen) came with Vista Business 64-bit preloaded. One of the menu picks that I never once exercised was "Integrated Camera".

I removed Vista and installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I looked up Lenovo Support, which said that the Integrated Camera driver works on Vista and Windows 7. I downloaded and tried to install it, and it said I do not have a camera. A quick physical check and a look in Device Manager (no yellow or red marks of any kind) says that I do not have a camera.

What is an integrated camera? Where is it? and why do think it might have been preinstalled on Vista if I don't have one?

Thanks, ... JDH

Preloads for some of the Z61t and Z61m models (and others) included that software, too, on models without the camera. I believe the 14" widescreen and 15.4" widescreen T61 models, in addition to both Z61t/m models, offered a camera as an option. Perhaps it's hard to detect the camera when it's not in use, so it the driver/software was installed by default.

The camera is usually near the ThinkLight in the LCD bezel with a camera icon next to it. You'd know if you had one, but again, I don't believe any standard 14" LCD T61's had one.

I just uninstall the software.

Yes - I have now noodled out that it was an option, and I did not purchase that option at the time of purchase. There is a camera icon moulded into the bezel but there is no opening for one. The Thinklight has a similar moulded light icon, and I do have the Thinklight.
