T60 Integrity Check for data Area Failed - System Halted

#1 Post by copycat » Fri Jan 08, 2010 9:39 am

After updating the Bios to (ver. 2.25 79ETE5WW) on several T60 (2007-4AU) thinkpads, we are now receiving the following error at bootup "integrity check for data area failed - system halted". All of the machines are encrypted with Utimaco SafeGuard Easy and will generate this error only when they are docked and a USB device i.e. mouse, keyboard are plugged into the dock. They will boot okay without a USB device. Additionally, I have wiped and reloaded a different hard drive with a base windows xp sp3 and driver image. This machine will generate the same error once SGE has been installed. Since the laptops are out of warranty, Lenovo support will not help unless we purchase a new warranty.

Looking for a less expensive resolution for this issue, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your post. I ran into the same problem this morning. I have other T60's with older BIOS versions. The problem is being caused by Ver. 2.25. I went to another user that has Ver. 2.21 with no issues. All using SGE 4.5.

Here is the URL to Lenovo. Scroll toward the bottom to find the list of all BIOS versions. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-63024

Good Luck.

Thanks for the update. After some thorough investigation into this problem, we realized the bios update was the one thing that changed and had to re-install version 2.23 to get everything to work correctly. I have since contacted Sophos / Utimaco about this error and they have admitted that, it is their problem and nothing to do with the bios. The downside to this story is they could not tell me when a resolution would be ready.

Cheers
