Finger Print Reader - How to Disable Software and/or Hardwar

I have recently re-installed XP pro in my T61 using no logon or password and would like to keep it that way. After installing the Finger Print Reader drivers and software, I now get an annoying request to establish a password followed by the opening screen of the Reader software (that I must cancel at each reboot). Is there are reasonable way of disabling the hardware and/or software?

If this has already been covered, I apologize, but a search did not turn up anything.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Well, if you do not intend to use the reader, uninstall the reader software.

Uninstalling the Finger Print software seems logical, but won't the drivers be removed too. If that happens, I am back to XP's hardware wizard popping up with each boot looking for drivers for the finger print reader. It seems that the boots will be interupted one way or another. Hence my original question.

TEF, I simply deleted the software from add/remove in the Control Panel on my T60, and I no longer receive the "Please logon to register your fingerprints" message on boot.

No, the drivers will remain intact.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try.
