Do I need a driver for a USB data stick?

#1 Post by John H » Thu Jan 14, 2010 11:45 pm

I plugged a USB data stick into the USB and it beeped but no folder display and no prompt. And the drive doesn't show in Explorer. And a DOS command doesn't reveal the USB either.

Am I missing a driver?

Which os, which machine type? All "newer" os like XP, Vista, Win7 have these drivers included and it should work out of the box. Does it show up in the device manager?
