My T60 gets very hot on the bottom in the upper left area. Too hot to touch! I hear the fan (quietly). But is it normal to be this hot?

i had that issue as well, i believe the graphics card is close by and it runs hot. i did download SpeedFan and that has helped to keep it cool.

Maybe I should try Speedfan.
I've had a couple of times when I got the blue screen of death and Windows shut down. I'm hoping I don't have an impending hardware failure. Otherwise the T60 has been flawless in performance.
Has this been a common problem? I have the Radeon X1300 video card with 512 Mb of RAM and running 1400 x 1050 resolution.

Make sure the cooling vents are dust free. Use a vacuum brush -briefly- (so as not to over spin the fan) on outside of vents. Sometimes it is necessary to remove the keyboard and gently hold the fan to prevent spinning, and then blow out cooling system.

I had the same problem an it was resolved, immediately, by briefly blowin out the fan with a light burst of canned air. I saw lots of dust come out.

Did you take the keyboard off? I'm traveling now and I don't have my instructions for how to remove the keyboard.
Last night my T60 shut down due to high heat. I need to keep it off of my soft case to keep a bit of adequate ventilation under the laptop or it will get too hot and shut down.

Thanks to your posts, I think it's fixed!
I pulled off the keyboard and blew out a surprisingly large amount of dust in the fan area. So far the bottom is only warm rather than hot.
Thank you all again.
