Does anyone know the results of using T43 rescue and recovery disks on a T60?

Windows will install but all the hardware drivers will be wrong/missing, i.e., one will need to install each driver manually.

Since the Ethernet drivers will also be missing, there will be no Internet access to download any drivers. Therefore, at the very least, prior to starting this adventure, one should download and have available the Intel Chipset drivers and T60 Ethernet drivers (wired LAN), so that one can get the machine into a state which has access to the Internet. One can then proceed to download and install the remaining drivers.

Suppose you got online with a aftermarket PCI card can you go anywhere that will go get everything automatically?

Yes, there is a way. If the T60 has the machine type in the BIOS (probably it does!) and if you can install Lenovo's System Update 3.14, then that is the only program that will update "things" automatically and correctly. Here is the link to System Update 3.14:

It is far easier to use the proper recovery disks. Please read the PM (Private Message) that I sent you.

I haven't tried it, but my guess is that it is more likely to work if you set the BIOS/CONFIG/SATA to compatibility mode.
