T61 corrupt embedded controller bios?

Have a T61 with a slightly troublesome motherboard. Previously there had been an issue in that the LCD output from the motherboard had failed, however the external graphics worked fine. As such had reused it without LCD and it seemed to work fine (for a while). Now it seems to have failed more or less totally. Symptoms as follows

-As issue started it occasionally boots into o/s. Keyboard won't work.
-Normally sits at a black screen. No beeps.
-Once beeped error code for DIMM/System board.
-Occasionally boots to a BIOS screen as shown below. no keyboard either via laptops own or external. Screen would seem to show embedded controller bios is somehow corrupt. Assume this is fatal, however wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

The failure seemed to conincide with the addition of a USB IR remote. Rationally I can't see how this would cause such a failure, still makes me wonder though.

Your laptop is not a T61 but an R61.
Try to reload the BIOS/ECP, but create a bootable CD for the update, don't do it from within Windows.
You should then go into BIOS, and hit F9 to load the Defaults, then hit F10 to save/reboot.
