T60 Keyboard Keys Problem

#1 Post by numsie » Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:48 pm

I'm having a problem with my new (second hand)T60 laptop. When I press SHIFT and @ key I get the " open quotation character. Also when i press the key to the right which is the ~ # key, in standard mode I get \ and when I press it with the SHIFT key I get the "l" character. I checked the " Keyboard Customiser Utility", and there is nothing setup in there that could do this. I also checked the keyboard settings in the "Control Panel" and it is set at "Standard 101/102 - Key or Microsoft Natural PS2 Keyboard. Any Ideas?

Usually problems like this are due to a keyboard layout/language setting. See this thread -

I agree with Harryc, however I have also seen a couple of cases where a defective keyboard did something like that.
