Did T61 suffer from nVidia GPU problems?

I'm considering used 14" wide T61 with Quadro NVS 140M (8400GS). Did the T61 suffer from nVidia melting GPU problems or is it a safe buy?

There have been reports... Not as widespread as with some series (HP Pavilion?), but yes, the problems were there.

Yes, it did, although nobody seems to have data on this incidence (with Lenovo or any other brand) that I've seen. I suspect it is pretty low, though.

Unless it has warranty remaining, stay away from it.

Although our friends at Lenovo claim that their cooling design and BIOS supersede the defect in the chip itself, this issue is as serious - if not more - than the ATi unsoldering problem was with T4x/R5x series.

Lenovo's forum is a chock full of stories regarding GPU failures on nVidia-based T61/p units.

If you're looking for a widescreen unit, go with T400, they are much better machines in every respect than any T61/p will ever be.
