I read with interest your.

I have a T61p for over 2 years now.

I noticed the same problem with the lack of tightening the hinge of the screen. I think this could become problematic.

Is there a way to tighten the screen at lower costs in order to provide robustness of origin ?

I'm not 103% sure, but i think you have to buy new hinges and install them yourself. I don't think it is worth sending the computer to a lenovo service center.. but what do i know - a T61 is probably worth a fortune for a ThinkPad owner :) :thumbs-UP:

You need to make a few corrections of the RPMs of the hard disks.
These are: 4200, 5400, 7200

Thanks for the write-up. :D

Yeah, the loose hinges are a real problem on these T61s. Almost all of our machines at work have this issue. It's the worst I've seen on any Thinkpad so far.

FWIW, it does not feel as if the hinges might break or become so loose to the point they would not be able to hold the screen. I actually think function-wise they will be as good as any other hinge. It just looks wobbly, tacky and cheap, that's all.

Yeah, the hinges does their work even though they are wobbly. The only negative side to it is the feel of the computer, and I am a bit picky when it comes to laptops :) But overall the computer is great, and I will continue using it (for years?) even though the hinges are - as you say - wobbly :)

Always about the hinges, I'm quite interested if anyone knows how and where to get parts (hinges) and the procedure for change it.

However, I am quite surprised that this problem can not be solved by a simple tightening of screws!

I often use this computer in a car as passenger and it is really unpleasant to see the screen move continuously.

The hinges, both for the 14,1" and 15,6" version of T61 can be bought from ebay - the price is about $15-20

I still havent found a manual for how to change the hinges though... :(

Incorrect statement:
Screen: 15.4-inch SXGA+ 1400 x 1050
I think that it should be 15.4-inch WSXGA+ 1680x1050
