Hi-Res oddities on T60/61 (light smudges)

I've recently discovered the joys of high resolution on Thinkpads and have two hi-res monitors (one 1600x1200 on T60p and one 1600x1050 on T61). However, I've noticed that the monitors start getting problems in relatively short time. Instead of dead pixels and the like, which I'm used to, it basically looks like an inverted thumb print or smudge that won't come off and they're light instead of dark (ie the "smudges" are visible when the screen is showing dark content but not when it is showing light content).

It's kind of bad on the T61 and I'm afraid I might be starting to see it on the T60. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Does anyone know what the cause of these light smudge things are?

Yup, they're called pressure marks. it comes from transporting the laptop with heavy objects (like books) or by piling heavy objects on the lid. Can also be caused by the track-point rubber tip.

Rats. Sounds like I got a bit careless, then.

Thanks for the info.
