Radiation spots on t60, wireless LAN

Hello!

Does anyone know which physical spots on the t60 emit microwave radiation?

I believe the antenna is located in the display (left edge) and that the pci adapter is located approximately below the "4" key. My specific questions are:

1) Does the adapter emit microwave radiation in any considerable ammount?
2) Which are the spots on the t60 that emit microwave radiation of considerable ammount?
3) The SAR values of these spots, specifically antenna and adapter?

My concern is the radiation exposure to the body caused by the prolonged use of the wireless connection (5-10 hrs/day) with the machine placed on the lap.

Greatly appreciate your answer. Have been unable to find anything about it myself.

Kind Regards,
Frank

If I am not mistaken, the antennas are both one the left and right edges of the display.

I believe that cell phones have a transmit power of approx 1 watt, while Wireless LAN is limited to 0.1 watt. That combined with the fact that the power declines with the square of the distance, makes me a lot more concerned with cell phones (which I press against my ear) rather than the computer in my lap.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I think you are right about the 0.1 w/kg SAR.

The issue with the laptop is that in my case I use it some 6 hours a day with it on my lap (I work at home, usually in the sofa). This would be the equivalent of some 36 minutes of daily phone use. According to the official recommendations, quite true, this should not be of concern.

However, better safe than sorry and out of curiosity: I am still looking for those "hot spots".

Thanks!
Frank

You might want to put a sample in a "bank" soon, just in case. 8)

Take a look at the right and top side of the display. There is one spot on each of them where plastic has diagonal notches (for lack of a better word), these are places where WLAN antennas are.

Models with Bluetooth option have a BT module with integrated antenna below the display, between the left hinge and LCD ribbon cable.

The WLAN adapter is located under key "7", not "4".

Hi.

Thanks alot. Do you know the SAR of the adapter?
