RAM speed on T61 (7665-Y4F)

#1 Post by frankiepankie » Thu Mar 11, 2010 2:53 pm

Hi guys,

I have upgraded my RAM this day (from 2x 1GB to one 1GB module + 2GB module)

I looked with CPU-Z if my modules were running at the right speed, but CPU-Z indicated something weird.

Here is my CPU-Z screenshot: http://tweakers.net/ext/f/M63RpPEk0HtyX ... X/full.jpg

Both modules are 800Mhz, so why aren't they running @ 800Mhz?

Is my T61 not capable of running RAM @ 800Mhz ?

Or am i misreading this (i am distracted by the 3:5 factor)

Yup, your T61 has Santa Rosa chipset which supports up to 667 Mhz RAM even though its FSB runs at 800 MHz, hence any compatible 800 MHz RAM modules would downclock to 667 MHz.
