Does this place send you real silver-pressed XP install disks like you would get at Lenovo?

They are definitely cheaper than Lenovo, and may be good-looking copies, but who cares? They work!
You might even get them cheaper if you ask in our Market forum!

I got a set of T40 disks - Real IBM
At least as far as I can tell

The ones I have purchased from them were burned copies. Very good copies, but copies nonetheless.
However, they worked fine with absolutely no issues.
Yes, Lenovo can shut them down if they really wanted to.

The paranoid side of me would worry about malware/keylogger hidden deep inside the OS or a driver somewhere.

Maybe it would help if there were a sticky for people to post MD5 encrypted checksums of real restore disks for various model thinkpads. At least for models since Genuine Advantage (XP) if that helps with property rights, and fear of the thread being misused.

I'd like to try XP Pro on an old model with a COA licence sticker, but no disk. Haven't gotten around to it because don't want to pay or get malware, so may require some research or work.

Might especially help tablet users, I don't think you can easily get tablet XP? I'm about to get a used x41t, no disk, plan to just start with Ubuntu.

I have a burnt set but I want factory pressed copies cause I have fallen in love with my thinkpad over the last month since I got it. When I had an HP, I couldn't have cared less.

Careful with that kind of obsession, can be expensive!

But real CDs prob can be found for not much $ and if it makes you happy, why not.

OT: I nearly paid $25 shipped for a set of 6 different Toshiba trackpoint tips last night. uhh, for an ergonomics experiment... yeah, right! If you object to non-IBM, there's green and raspberry supposedly authentic ones on ebay, but they're cat's tongue/dome, so will wear out. I might try dying one ordinary tip, to remind me it isn't the main computer.

who cares... really do you think a place that makes a website sells cd's for a living (probably has them pressed and printed in a duplication facility) so they look as real as Lenovo Cd's wants to kill their whole business and reputation by loading a keylogger? I've shipped THOUSANDS of used machines over the past 15+ years, all reloaded legal and OEM correct why would I put on a keylogger? hmmm to get some dudes credit card or ruin a website I've owned since 1995?
Want an IBM/lenovo copy PM me, never used. not reprints came right from them when I had a HDD in one fail.

I ordered 2 sets, both were burned... they print the labels on the disk. I didn't care, as long as they worked and paid half as much for originals.

One disk came scratched and didn't read. I offered to ftp it instead of mailing physical media and they did... I had no problems with my sets.
