T60 trackpad does not work

I've been putting this T60 together over the last few weeks and now that it is up and running the trackpad does not work. I went into the control panel under mouse and there are only 4 tabs, no Ultranav tab. I also tried a palmrest/trackpad from a T43 and the results are the same, not trackpad action. Do I need to get a later control panel? any suggestions appreciated. I am running Xp and the bios are up to date.

Check the settings in the BIOS. Are trackpoint and/or touchpad disabled? Did you do clean xp install or recovery disks?

Rich, all good ideas but when you have the palmrest connector plugged in backwards it ain't never going to work.....Not trying to embarrass myself here but it is not obvious which way this one plugs in. I looked at hardware manual and the pullup tab goes towards the LCD. That's about 2 hrs I'll never get back!!!

If I do that sort of thing, I refer to it as a hardware problem - the hardware between the ears
