New kind of HD?

I ordered a hard drive of the same designation as the one in my T60P (HTS722010K) to use as a cloning (backup) drive. I was surprised to find that this drive is very different from the drive in my T42. That is, it does not have the usual double row of pins. I found this out when I went to plug it into an external housing.

Apparently I need to order out another external housing for it (USB). What do I need to check up on to know what housing to buy for this?

No doubt there are those who will tell me I am wasting my time with USB. To them I would say, what choice do I have? The T60 isn't exactly overflowing with connectors.

JimL,

The T42 is IDE and the t60 SATA, two different connector types. I purchase a universal interface device that does USB to IDE /SATA and a memory card interface. I have used it successfully with Clonezilla to clone hard drives from my t60 and t42. I purchased the device at Computer Geeks. Do a Google search and you can find many different ones. You need to be careful plugging the drives in correctly and making sure you have all power off both USB and power supply. I fried a drive being sloppy.

Good Luck,

Bruce
