Staying with T60 parts...

-T7600 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo CPU
-4GB RAM
-SSD
-ATI V5250 mobo
-abgn wifi
-WWAN adapter
-Bluetooth
-15" FlexView IPS LCD
-Custom cover paint or powdercoat

That will do it...unless you want to go the T61 mobo in a T60 chassis...then you can...

-T9500 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo CPU
-8GB RAM
-Any Intel or NVidia T61 mobo you choose
-abgn wifi
-WWAN adapter
-Bluetooth
-15" FlexView IPS LCD
-Custom cover paint or powdercoat

Or I suppose you could buy a W500 or W510...

I've got the V5250, 2GB RAM, V5250 and a 16G ExpressCard for TurboMemory with WIN7 and a T7200 2.0GHz. Should I consider a swap of my current 7K200 HDD to an Ultra-bay adapter?

I've bought an 40GB Intel SSD (SSDSA2M040G2XX) because that one was affordable for me (The price for the 80GB and 160GB is a lot higher).

I've also bought an Ultrabay 2nd HDD adapter at eBay for $17 or something (not original IBM/Lenovo, but that doesn't matter for me as long as it works).

I am now using the 40GB Intel SSD as my main HDD, and a Western Digital 320GB in the Ultrabay as storage (i put all my documents, music, videos, pictures, games etc on that HDD). Only the Windows 7 system files are stored on the SSD, because of the small space available.

Oh and i have also bought a kit with 2x 2GB SO-DIMM modules, so i have 4GB of RAM (i now have 2x1GB). I will also reinstall Windows 7 64bit when the modules arrive (otherwise with 32bit, you are bound to a max of 3GB of RAM)

The recommended Lenovo Wireless-N card is FRU: 42T0825/42T0827 (Atheros AR5BXB72) - I do not know which of these FRU's cover the additional UK channels 12 & 13 - However if you were to modify your T60's BIOS, you may be able to use the majority of new Wireless-N cards currently available - Intel 4965N, 5100, 5300 etc as well as those availble through OxfordTEC UK.

Probably the best upgrades you can make would be the SXGA+ LCD and a SSD, but that's me.

I have tried out the Intel 5100, SparkLAN WPEA-110N (Atheros based chipset) & Broadcom BCM94322MC (HP OEM). I found that the Intel did not seem to pull-in as many AP's using eithers Intel's own WiFi Utility/Access Connections/Windows when compared to the SparkLAN and Broadcom (which use their own WiFi Utilities). Also found that the Intel dropped a little more packets compared to the SparkLAN while the Broadcom didn't drop any (All tested via the same WiFi routers). Speedwise, they all seem to perform pretty similar.

I'm considering the upgrade and would like some suggestions. I'm assuming that the above applies to T60p with T61p mobo. I need IPS and 8 GB of RAM.

a) What's the T61p mobo FRU that supports Penryn?
b) What's the FRU for the mobo with the Quadro 570M
c) I see that fan assemblies differ. How do I know which is the fan assembly that goes with this motherboard?

I tried some searches but didn't find the right info. Thanks.

I saw T60 upgraded with mobo from T61 system 8889-W3J. Check it on Lenovo support site for FRUs.
