Hi everyone,
I've been doing some research on getting a screen with a higher resolution.
I have a T60 (2007-57U) And I have a 15'' screen but its an XGA with a native resolution of 1024x768, but I want to replace it with an SVGA+ which has a higher resolution of 1400 × 1050.
I've been browsing the forum on similar threads but I'm confused about some things.
will my video card be able to support the higher resolution?
And also will the new screen work? I don't want to replace my screen and find out that EDID chip isn't compatible with my T60 or something like white lines on the new screen.
I want to be pointed in the right direction on what to buy rather than wasting money on something that isn't compatible or won't work since i'm low on funds atm.
Thank you all,
Johnny
T60: Replacing XGA with SVGA confused
Re: T60: Replacing XGA with SVGA confused
The video chip will be fine. The SXGA+ screen uses the same cable as the XGA screen, but needs a different inverter. My notes indicate that the sxga+/UXGA screen need inverter 42T0079 or 41W1012. If you replace the whole assembly, it is easier, compatible and more expensive. Unless you buy a screen with a T60 FRU like 13N7078 or 13N7196, you cannot be sure. The T60 FRU screens are more expensive.
