Hello guys. First- I really, perfectly know how you hate new members in your community, and Everyone ask and ask, but I really need of your support.

My case- I need to buy laptop. I`m php/mysql developer and need to use the machine for Work, but really Extremely Work- 50-60 open tabs with pages in same time, one program IDE Aptana, server monitoring software, one SSH client, VM, debuggers and stats software.

In last month I make research and I`m Extremely Confused :-| The market is full with glossy, stupid, plastic Things for teenagers and gamers... in value segment I find only HP "Probook" series with matte screen, but this display is simply horrible ( I go to look live in one local showroom ) and laptop design, keyboard, the case everything is... fast food for average customers.

I call to local Lenovo reseller and talk over 15 minutes- Currently Lenovo NO sell new, actual models with IPS/Flexview...

In my research I find one... and really excuse me, but this is Amazing- IPS/Flexview technology! This is ... I no have a words for that- this is the Holy Grail, the Lost Ark of the technology. I know now you a laugh, but I`m fully respected.

And The Dilemma- I no want to buy second hand laptop, But... in my case I cant find other decision... In any ebay auctions and private members from this forum I find few t60p offers 2Ghz, 2Gb ram, 100hdd and 15" 1600x1200 display
from this information page http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Flexview this is IPS display, and the machine is no Hot, but I think and no obsolete eh... I have many more fears for second hand laptop buys, and for that please give me your opinion and support me...

I think I really need this Black Machine with like a tank design, this Amazing monitor, comfortable keyboard with "red dot", the Metal RollCage http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/22588.jpg
( lol! if you compare this case with any "probook" :D )
and everything else who anyone else laptop can not offer me

Well for end, I really want to know your opinion - give me any other offers if you can, but I no have idea how I cant ignore this http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2864 !!!

Thinkpad is Brand Legend!!!

Welcome to the forum!

Nothing beats - not in my opinion anyway - an IPS FlexView LCD. However, the last ones to have it were 15" T60/p series which were discontinued a couple of years ago.

Could you possibly source an unused one? Maybe. The price, if you managed to find it, would likely leave you speechless.

If you need a new machine for professional work, you may want to consider W700. That's as close as you'll get to a good screen on any machine nowadays.

Or, you can put up a WTB (want-to-buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace and get a nice, well-treated, used T60/p with an IPS screen.

Hope this helps.

Hello and welcome! This is probably one of the most friendly forums in existence, also towards new members :)
I second ajkula66's comments. I hear that the W510 (1920x1080, wide gamut) LCD is also not too bad considering it is a TN LCD. But it doesn't sound like you need a wide-gamut LCD, so any of the Flexviews would be just fine, and much preferable actually.

I still remember getting a forum user to buy a T60p from the last batches of the UXGA T60ps for me at the Lenovo Outlet for a mere $1800 (or was it $1899?) more than two years ago, and i'm still happily using it right now. There have been no real issues with it, only some upgrades were done. It has been used about every single day ever since, and for 8 hours+ a day.

If you find a 15.0" T60p with screen issues, you can - if you have 100% visibility - exchange the screen to QXGA (and it's still IPS, but not quite as bright). Just a suggestion since you seem to be looking for as much resolution as possible to run all kinds of applications simultaneously.

The picture of the roll-cage design also shows a metal rollcage in the LCD lid. The LCD lid rollcage is only available in T61/p.

I'd say that finding a completely new T60p (15") is going to be next to impossible. I'm sure Lenovo stocks more than enough parts to build some, but they are meant for repairs covered by warranty. I don't think you should be too afraid of buying used, if this is what you want. Replacement parts in Europe are cheaper than you might think - except motherboard, cpu and LCD. The "mechanical" parts are inexpensive. So if something isn't "as good as new", it can be replaced.

Actually Lenovo offers the Flexview on the X200 tablet (AFFS - adopted from IPS). But of course, it is 1280x800. See this thread for a AFFS LCD modded into an X200 (non-tablet): http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=84941 .

I absolutely second the fact that this is the friendliest and most helpful forum, and that the Flexview is a sight for sore eyes!
