Lenovo Thinkpad T61p

#1 Post by filters » Sun Apr 11, 2010 12:04 pm

hi,

the AC socket to recharge my battery, resp to run my thinkpad is broken, meaning no AC connection is possible to run my t61p - if the thinkpad would have power it's running perfectly. I already tried to open the thinkpad and fix it by myself, but no chance to get to AC socket.

Would you recommend the ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock as a solution? What else can i use or test to bypass my AC socket?

thx for comments!

cheers

Welcome to the forum.

If there is not a short, the dock will allow you to charge the battery and run the machine. The repair is not too hard. You need to remove the LCD and then remove the frame from the case. It takes me about 40 minutes, but I have done many of them. Here is the service manual for the 15.4" T61p: Most are that size
