T60 - T1300 to T2400 - No Post

I've googled and searched the forums all over. I can't seem to find an answer other than T60's have come with T2400's all the time.

This is my work laptop, and needed a boost in cpu power but didn't want to spend a lot (because work won't pay for it). So a T2400 was about the best choice price/performance wise that I was willing to spend on.

I received the T2400 (SL8VQ) and installed it. No Post. I have Crucial ddr2 667 (2x2GB - 4GB was cheaper than 3GB) and can get a beep code if I remove all the ram. When I put the T1300 back in, the T60 posts.

I have updated to the most recent bios, and have tried 3 different versions. 2.23, 2.25, and now 2.26. All have the same result.

Cpu-Z shows my mb revision to be 3, but I'll take it apart and look on the board itself to see.

Is there something special that needs to be done besides remove the T1300 and install the T2400? The bios doesn't need something special for the t2400 should it? I'm puzzled at this point. If I can't get the T2400 to work...I might break down and get the T7200. It's $60 more but if it works it'll be a huge improvement over this POS T1300.

thanks

I had T1300 core solo which I replaced with T7200. There was no extra tricks to do. Great upgrade.

Specifications wise it should work, so I think you're dealing with a BIOS support issue still.

With that said I can't recall seeing anyone that had tried that particular upgrade. Frankly I'm shocked that the T60 ever came with a core solo CPU.

hrm.... I may just plunk down the extra $ and RMA the T2400 for a T7200. Real bummer. I wasn't looking to spend a lot but by the time I RMA the T2400 and get a new one and take the chance of it not working, I may as well have gotten the T7200.

decisions decisions...time to consult the trusty 8-ball.

Your T2400 might be damaged too. Do you have a way to check it in another machine?

Not right now no. I'll have to check around to see but supposedly it was tested before it was shipped to me. They'll RMA it and send another, but it's one of those things you just want to be certain before you do that ;)

Have to look up my parent's laptop and see what's in it...and then see if I can tear it apart

If the T1300 works, then any other CPU for that model should also work.
UNLESS that T2400 is faulty (and it probably is).
I had a T60 with T2700, in which I tried a T1300, which I only bought as a spare to test on other T60 models.
Worked without any problems (BIOS 2.23).
So, your T2400 must have been a dud...
Unless its replacement is also bad, it should work without any hassle.

Hi, jweber76

I got the quite same problem with you. The shop says the T2400 already tested. So did you have any progress installing it?
Thank you!

Thank you for reply. I checked the CPU setting. I can see [Intel Virtualizaion Technology][Current setting _Enabled].
How do I do for setting this T2400 CPU?
Thank you!
