T60 - T1300 to T2400 - No Post

I've googled and searched the forums all over. I can't seem to find an answer other than T60's have come with T2400's all the time.
This is my work laptop, and needed a boost in cpu power but didn't want to spend a lot (because work won't pay for it). So a T2400 was about the best choice price/performance wise that I was willing to spend on.
I received the T2400 (SL8VQ) and installed it. No Post. I have Crucial ddr2 667 (2x2GB - 4GB was cheaper than 3GB) and can get a beep code if I remove all the ram. When I put the T1300 back in, the T60 posts.
I have updated to the most recent bios, and have tried 3 different versions. 2.23, 2.25, and now 2.26. All have the same result.
Cpu-Z shows my mb revision to be 3, but I'll take it apart and look on the board itself to see.
Is there something special that needs to be done besides remove the T1300 and install the T2400? The bios doesn't need something special for the t2400 should it? I'm puzzled at this point. If I can't get the T2400 to work...I might break down and get the T7200. It's $60 more but if it works it'll be a huge improvement over this POS T1300.
thanks
