I searched this forum and am still confused.

I have T61 with discrete graphics (Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M) running Vista Business. Screen is 4x3.

This advanced mini-dock has 1 Dual Link DVI-D and 1 regular VGA ports.

I want to be able to connect 2 extrnal monitors via DVI without using VGA->DVI converters. Will I be able to do this using this dock, Dual-Link DVI output and some kind of Y-splitter DVI cable that connects to DVI port on the dock on one end and to 2 separate monitors on other ends?

I don't know/remember the specifics about this particular dock, but suspect you're probably SOL. Specs url says the DVI-D maxes out at 2560x1600, which is max for some of the popular Dell/HP/Samsung 30" monitors. That's not quite enough resolution to split into two 1920x1200 layouts...I suppose you could really dumb down the resolution a bunch after splitting, though.

Lenovo specs are frequently WRONG, so it's possible you may get lucky on this one. Others on the board could comment more about this dock & video capabilities.

As far as splitting the DVI-D signal out from the pc towards two DVI monitors, you probably want to take a look at the Matrox TripleHead2go Digital box. Check ebay, Sewelldirect.com, Newegg.com, etc. There are many varieties of xHead2go boxes, so be sure you get exactly what you need. The DualHead2go boxes have only a VGA input(where you hook it up to your pc), so stay away from those; go with the TripleHead2go, Digital version, as it allows either a VGA and a DVI input and the output to DVI monitors. Also, don't confuse this box with the DP(DisplayPort) version, as that one's not for DVI...LOTS of different Matrox boxes, as mentioned above...

If I remember correctly, Lenovo really came up short on this one, as it came out before Lenovo had their architecture developed past using VGA outputs very much. This kind of dock really works better if you go ahead and use the VGA port for one of the external monitors.
