how to stop access connections from launching at boot up?

I have a T60 with the intel wireless hardware. I was never able to make the Access Connections wireless feature work as it invoked the Intel wireless software and I think the intel stuff did not manage the wep codes properly.

Anyway, I was finally able to get the wireless operating by simply using the generic windows wireless tool.

Now the only problem is that every time I boot up Access Conncetions insists on trying to establish the wireless connection and fails every time. This takes a few minutes. Then the windows wireless takes off and all is fine except for the delay.

So....my question is how can I turn off the Access Connections software? I looked in mscnfig under startup but I don't see it there.

One other related question. Has anyone else noticed that its not possible to search these forums for the word wireless? It comes back complaining that it cannot handle wireless. Wierd. I tried things like +wireless +configuration +access but the +wireless is always dropped.

My suggestion is to uninstall Access Connections. I have it working fine on the T400s but it does not behave well on the other laptops I have so I got rid of it. That will simplify things.

Thanks Mike. The only reason I was hesitant to do that was I that I was afraid it might disable something else. I tried to remove the intel wireless tool which access connections launches but when I did that it also removed the device driver so I had to reinstall the intel tool to get the dd back.

So if nothing else depends on Access Connections then I'll try removing it.

Is the launch of Access connections buried in the registry somewhere?

tks

If you go to Advanced, Tools, Global Settings within TV AC, you will see a check box for wireless connection at Windows logon. You can try unchecking that.

MSCONFIG might help. BTW, I find Access Connections along with all of Lenovo's software to be awesome and work flawlessly all the time. Try reinstalling it?

I tried mscnfig but it doesn't seem to know about it or have full control.

Actually, at work I use Access Connections and it works fine. On this T60 the problem is not Access Connections itself but the Intel utility that it launches. The Intel utility does not seem to handle the WEP codes properly. (or I don't understand how it works). I fooled around with it for several hours.

What happens now is that during boot access and Intel tries for a while, finally gives up and then the windows wireless gets going. So at least it works. Its just a delay getting there.

thanks for the answers
