Just noted this reelase on lenevo site, it says that some win7 fixes have been made, incl. Sandisk SSD support. Anybody tried this with success?

I didn't even know there was a new BIOS release until I received my T61 from EZserv repair depot the other day with a note stating they also upgraded the BIOS to the latest release.
Windows 7 worked fine before and works fine after the update.

I don't feel anything from the updating of the BIOS.

But some people from the China 51nb.com believed that the fan would activated @ low temperture and caused noises.

My upgrade on the T61 bios went just fine with nothing to really notice. I do use Windows 7 and it works excellent.

:(

The fan is my #1 worry with any bios update.

I suppose one could always go back to the old bios.

Has anyone ever felt that a new bios/embedded program made the fan come on more, and reverting to the old one did not fix the increased noise? And had this confirmed by other people and/or... logic? :)

My guess is its for cooling purposes. W7 already runs fine on the previous BIOS. What did the notes say? It could be that the chickens have come home to roost on the Nvidia equipped models although mine runs fine and its a way to stem the tide of repairs coming in.

Nope, it's not country/region specific. It was posted on Lenove drivers' page on April 20. Here's the link to the new release:

Win7 users must download ISO file (flashing from bootable CD), others may use exe file.
I wouldn't worry with fan issue as we can always switch to TPfan :-)

As a result of this thread, and then going to Lenovo Support, I have V2.27-108 running on my T61p non-widescreen Thinkpad and it is working just fine. .... JDH

So the additional fan activity on low power is inaccurate?

The fixes were not for my machine, and there is no difference from 2.26 for me, and there is no fan issue.

Funny.... after starting the bootable CD I got the message that update for my machine is not necessary :??:
And there was no option to force flashing anyway.... So I stay with 2.26, still works fine for me. :thumbs-UP:

Maybe its related to the non P T61's. Question I run W7 64 and Vista 32. Can I update through Vista instead as dont want to use CD method. It doesnt show up on a System Update through W7 64.

seems that with Vista 32bit you can use exe release...
