Which brand of XGA 15'' LCDs is best?

Hi!
I have bought t60p with a malfunctioning LCD(15'', UXGA 1600x1200). I do not like high resolutions - most of WWW pages are for 1024x768, re-scaling serves poorely to the graphics. Another problem is the hi-res fonts (I am working on winXPpro, shipped with the machine) is in many applications text labels do not fit their boxes - sometimes it is hard to guess which option you're checking. Anyway - I decided to replace the screen with 1024x768.
Now I searched threads and found nothing allowing me to chose.
My options are:
Samsung LTN150XB-L03
Chi Mei N150X6
CHI MEI N150X3
LG-PHILIPS LP150X08
There's also UXGA Samsung LTN150U4-L01, but I am very reluctant to replace original LCD with UXGA.
Any suggestions?

I would suggest to go with 15" SXGA+ (1400x1050) from BOE Hydis (P/N 13N7196), rather than XGA (1024x768), unless you have poor eye sight.
These are also IPS screens.
You only need to replace the LCD itself. Cable and inverter are the same as for UXGA.

You mean XGA requires different inverter AND cable than UXGA/SXGA? I read about that, but did not believe ... I will check with manual. I have no access to BOE-Hydis panels though - all I can find there is Samsung or Chi Mei or LG-Philips
I checked:
Part / FRU:
Inverter card (15.0-in. SXGA+/UXGA) / 42T0079
Inverter card (15.0-in. XGA) / 42T0077
XGA
LCD cable assembly with Bluetooth (15.0-in.) / 91P6985
SXGA
LCD cable assembly with Bluetooth (15.0-in.) / 91P6985
UXGA
LCD cable assembly with Bluetooth (15.0-in.) / 91P6985
Seems only inverter must be switched ...

Yes, XGA has a different inverter (and I thought also the cable, sorry).
Check this guy on ebay.de
http://cgi.ebay.de/38-1cm-Display-15-SX ... 0453671940
Ask him if you can send in a UXGA and swap for SXGA+. Reasonable price.

"My" SXGA+ is the better screen, and new, and specific for T60.
"Your" XGA is used, and may not work in a T60 if there is no proper EDID chip! Read up on EDID in T60 forum.
Together with a new inverter you'd pay the same as for the SXGA+.

thanx for advice - is there any list of models that are compatibile - and have proper EDID? I did not come across anything like that. Same as - clear EDID-flashing manual. Thank you in advance
Anyway - being able to obtain an XGA TFT display for $50 and an inverter for another 10 - I am at $60 - far below 88 EUR - that's why the thing is worth a shot - I can get a used Chi-mei SXGA+ (1400x1050 N150P5 -L01) TFT for mere 50$ ... just for sake of testing if it works ... I just need advice - if it is at all doable ...

There's this Stickie at the top of the T6x forum: LCDs on T60/T60p - types, availability and other discussions

In the thread you mentioned there's no such thing as 'database' of T60-mountable models - I very much expected that there would be one. I bet some of panels were programmed by manufacturer in a manner compatibile with T60 - despite not being intended as spare parts for thinkpads.
I came across $115 (item+transport) complete t60 lid with SXGA+ original panel (inverter, cable, bluetooth antenna, wi-fi antenna, seller claims the screen is spotless). I consider it a good deal - in addition I avoid risk of damaging panel while replacement process. What is your opinion on the deal?

For a complete lid, incl. shipping, that's a very attractive price.
Just make sure it's the correct size for your T60.
