Hello,

I've a ThinkPad T60p with Chicony KBD that is on its last leg.

Now that I have to replace it, I would like to opt for something that has mechanical clicky, tactile feel; much like cherry; I prefer cherry brown.

1) Can someone please tell me which one of these - ALPS, Chicony, NMB - is equivalent or close to cherry keyboards? I was unable to get a clear picture after much review on this and geekhack.org forum.

2) Of the 3 which one closely relates to the feel of topre based HHKB Pro as I plan to buy one sometime down the lane. Note: I have never touched a HHKB Pro.

I looked at this link http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 0&start=30 but did not find anyone post their experience with ALPS, Chicony & NMB in relation to cherry brown or HHKB pro.

Thank you for your time.

I have an NMB or ALPS keyboard if interested. Both are like new since I pulled those keyboards out and replaced it with a "Korean" Keyboard from day one.

Please PM if interested.

The general tendency is toward the NMB keyboard, preferred by an overwhelming majority.

Due to the low profile, none of these can achieve the "click" feel of a desktop KB. These KB are basically membrane designs with an elastomer plunger/spring. The key top is on a pantograph assembly. Very cheap design but now made to be pretty reliable.

While in the office, I use a desktop KB thru a dock.
