'Lighter' spot on my LCD

I have a T60 with (I think) a 15" flexview LCD. It's 1600X1200 resolution anyway.

I now have a thumbprint sized spot in the upper right corner that appears lighter than the surrounding area. It seems to get brighter as the background becomes more white (i.e. invisible when background is black).

any ideas what this might be caused by?

The BEF (brightness enhancement film) in your LCD has a pressure mark. This is a film to disperse light across the LCD and susceptible to presure damage. There is really nothing you can do other than replacing the LCD.

Drat... OK, thanks. Good thing it's not that annoying. At least not enough to consider replacing the LCD

Can't imagine how it might have happened though. While it's next to the LCD latch I've never held it/pressed it at that spot.

Books in the same bag as the laptop can do it..any heavy object.
