hello all
i recently happened upon a t61! i manged to receive it for free as it was at my girlfriends schools e-waste collection day. there is only one thing puzzling me about it(other than its perfect condition and lack of power adapter) and that is that it looks physically different then the t61s i see in videos and on Google images

the usb ports are horizontal instead of vertical
the audio jacks are on the side. not the front.
it says vista basic on the sticker but has a business key on the bottom (the vista key says lenovo singapore btw)
also the fw 800 port is on the front besied the wifi switch and the sd card reader is further down from that
now i could be barking up the wrong tree as it does show up in levnovos system, but it is strange
could it be a late model production unit? or is this extra strange?

The right side USB ports are horizontal on my T61p; the left side port is vertical
The audio jacks are on the side of my T61p
My WiFi switch is on the front and I did not get an SD card reader (I got one on a usb stick)

So do you have a T61p? The other thing to note is my machine is 14" 4:3 whereas most T61's were widescreen 15" so probably a different chassis.

hmmm it might be a t61p masquerading as a t61, i did see lose screws when i opened it up, so either some one doesn't know how to tighten screws or it received a major change late in its life.
though it could be a late revision t61 i.e. before the t4xx's
well we shal know this weekend has im getting a power adapter and firring it up lets hope for the best!

**EDIT: there is a sd card slot built into the front of the machine which may indicate a CTO**

The description is correct for any 15.4" wide model. They all have ports in the configuration you describe

exactly same design as my t61p (6459CTO).

The same here 6463-CTO...
i thought all T61 15,4" widescreen are the same, aren't they?

So, did it work? $300+ for free if it does

more like 400+ it has some nice upgrades (ram ect)
im getting a power hadaptor hopefully today(sat) or tommorow (sun) so yah i will keep you guys posted

ok well the place i was going to buy my power adaptor from was all sold out, i dont have that much money i relly only had enough for the 19 doller one they had, unfortunatly i will now have to save some more and get back to you guys later, maby in two or three weeks. grrr i hate being poor.(student)
