Newly installed Atheros a/b/g card not connecting

#1 Post by vinuneuro » Mon May 24, 2010 6:06 pm

I recently got an Atheros card to upgrade my 3945abg.

Windows 7 installed a driver automatically (and there's no Win7 driver for this card from Lenovo). All the surrounding networks are visible, but it just won't connect to anything.

It's a Lenovo card, FRU 39T5578 on the back matches the parts matrix.

Any ideas?

I just put that card in a T60P and it ran fine. I was running Windows 7 too, and I don't recall hunting for the driver so I must have used the one from Windows. Are you just trying to connect to random access points or do you have a router? Are you using encryption, and do other devices connect to the router wirelessly?

I was trying to connect to my router. It just wouldn't connect even without encryption with the Windows supplied driver. Iirc, it was version 2.0.0.xxx and from Atheros. As I mentioned in this thread, the driver I found on opendrivers.com is working beautifully so far. It's version 7.7.0.449 and also signed by Atheros.

Out of curiosity could you please check what driver version you're using in your T60p?
