Dreaded T60 Fan High Pitch Whine

So, my T60 SSD/3GB-Ram/Win7 upgrades rock!

I have read many forum posts regarding a high pitch whine noise on the T60s and potential causes. For mine, I am convinced it is related to the fan. Battery charging or CPU power management options make no difference. Fan off - no high pitch whine.

The fan itself is not loud IMO, but it has an annoying high pitched whine to it - steady with a repeating 5 second interval pulse/interruption of louder whine/hiccup. At least that's how I describe it. My wife and daughter say they don't hear it, but I do - so what do they know.

I have already tried the clean n' oil the bearing procedure. It's not totally unbearable, but it is very annoying to me. Question is whether a fan replacement would make it better, or is this just that way it is on the T60s - thoughts?

If it can make a difference, what is the correct FRU replacement part number? From what I can figure out, it's either a 41W0467 or a 41V9932? The model number of the T60 is 2613-CTO with a 14.1 SXGA+, 42R9315 SBB INTEL CORE 2DUO PROC T7200, and 42R9322 SBB ATIRADEON X1400 128MB. Can it be determined from that? (wish I had looked into that more last time I had it apart :? ) Any recommendations on a good place to get one?

Thanks in advance for help.
