Not sure if these are related

On boot I get the following message before windows loads
=====
Initializing Intel Boot Agent GE 1.3.24
PXE E04 The LAN adaptors configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized
The boot agent cannot continue
=====
then I get the following screen
after 2 beeps
=====
ERROR
Expansion ROM not initialized-PCI on motherboard
BUS 00, DEVICE 00, Function 00
Press ESC to continue
=====

then windows loads normally
sometimes I think the computer is running slower but not always

but
randomly the wirless antenna turns off (the light on the dislplay goes dark) and I loose the wireless link.
I must reboot to make it work

and,
Fn F5 shows the wireless still on, and turning it off and on does nothing

and
Contrl panel, system, hardware,device manager, network adaptors, "Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection", . . advance tab, shows the wireless is on and functioning ok (turning this on/ off does nothing)

also
switching the wirless switch on the lower front of the computer makes no diference (i do get the message that it is switching on/off the wireless devices)

the wireless turned off twice while I was typing on this forum requiring reboot

the computer was dropped recently before all this started

I opened the unit, removed what chips/cards I could and replaced them hoping to reseat the connections but no difference.

sooooo . . .
is it hardware?
is there a power device conflict (thinkpad vs windows)?
any thoughts

thanks for any help
Rich

Hi,

I cannot comment on the ROM bootup messages you are receiving, but for this comment...
randomly the wirless antenna turns off (the light on the dislplay goes dark) and I loose the wireless link.
I must reboot to make it work
Try this: Go into power management for the wireless LAN device (you'll find the Wireless LAN as one of the manage-able items in the Power Plans) for every power plan, set the wireless lan to MAX power. Was driving me nuts till I found this.

Hope this helps.
