t60 and 4gb...

hello everyone!

two weeks ago I bought 4gb of ram for my t60... discovering after that it was known that t60 makes just 3 of them available to the operating system. I found and read all the previous 3ds (most of them are dated 2007) and I just was wondering if there is something "new" i can try. I'm using the latest bios and there is not a memory hole option, so the situation has not changed... but i have found that someone was able to modify his computer's bios for accessing at least 3.2 gb of ram (maybe it was 3.5 gb, don't remember).
I'd like to know if there is an option i can try for tweaking the bios. It would be great to access all the memory available :-)

any help would be appreciated.

btw my t60's type number is 2007-fxg
thanks in advance

it's a limitation by the chipset.   unfortunately there are no workarounds.

you may be able to free some address space by disabling unused ports in the BIOS.   since i don't have a T60/X60/R60 to test, i can't say if this will do anything.

if you absolutely need 4GB then you'll need to upgrade to a T61 or newer system.   just keep in mind that you'll need a 64-bit OS at that point to be able to use more than ~3GB.

Well, even if you install 4GB on t61, 32-bit WinXP will require small tune-up to address it: read here about it. Referring to T60 - nothing new will be invented about it, but 4GB allows for better performance (dual channel mode) - and is definitely worth 1 unusable GB, especially if you can purchase 2GBmodule for 33-35USD.

That's sounds like a good deal. Here in pricey london, the cheapest I found was £42 dropped from £50.
