Opinion Please -About T-60 Offer

#1 Post by BruisedQuasar » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:35 am

I'm being offered a T-60 (2007 GAU) in good condition for $260. That seems fair to me. What do
members think?

T2500(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1024x768 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

I figure I can replace the hdd for 7200RPM, Add 1 GB ram. My T-60 has integrated graphics & the GB Ethernet port is worn, so I use a GB Ethernet card, so I figure this one is an improvement since I can do nothing about the graphics performance or the Ethernet port.

I do have a 15" 1440 X 1040 display. The display on this 2007 GAU is not the dull one people complain about is it?

I think that is a good deal, but I may be wrong. One thing to remember is that that is a smaller, lower resolution screen than you have now. If you increase the dpi on your current screen, it may not matter much, otherwise you may miss the extra screen space.

I presume that your current 15" machine is 1400x1050, which would make it an IPS-equipped T60.

If that's the case, you are not likely to be happy with a 14" XGA T60 when it comes to screen quality, although the price is about right for the machine type.

Thank you for the reply. I was concerned that I would not like the display.

If you are getting the 14" XGA, you won't like it at all if you've been using a FlexView. It's atrocious.

The 14" XGA won't have the resolution of the 15" XGA+ but I have been perfectly happy with either (the font size on the 14" is a little larger and this helps of your eyes are going out)!
