"Glossy" vs "Matte" displays screens

1) Do T6x's offer "glossy" (vs. "matte"?) screens?
2) Does one or the other provide better view in sunlight?
(My brief research for other laptops/notebooks, namely macbooks, suggest that glossy screens tend to be better in the sunlight...and fwiw I'm not as worried about the glare...)

All T6x units have matte screens.
Glossy screens are really not any better in sunlight. For serious use in sunny environment, you need a Panasonic ToughBook which is the only laptop that has versions specifically designed to be used in sunlight.
Mac glossy screens are nasty IMHO, unlike their matte LCDs which are quite nice for TN panels.
My $0.02 only...

As a lighting designer I can tell you that every glare is disturbing and will reduce your "brain speed".

The biggest factor for using a screen outdoors is the brightness of the screen, though the glare can be an issue for glossy screens in direct sunlight. If you want a ThinkPad that works well outdoors, the T400 with the high brightness LCD seems like a good bet, though they can be hard to find.

Thx, makes sense, jives with my other research. Yeah, the 300-nit T400 display (
LG Phillips LP141WP2-TLB1 ), if that's what you mean, is hard to find in a non-modded T400, at least per my searching thus far. Have also
heard good things about the AUO B141PW03 (FRU=42T0597), and I do know a (current) supplier for that at what seems to be a darn good price (PM me if anyone is interested--would like to help out said supplier because he/she was doing well to help me...). Plus a T410 that I looked at in a store did have a rather brilliant/bright display, too. (I was dumb enough not to grab the type/serialnum off that T410 and figure out what display they had...ugh...might be able to get that later...)

No, I was thinking of the Samsung LTN141AT09, which is 680 nits. It will work quite well outdoors. It's only WXGA, but I heard the contrast and viewing angles are above average. I didn't see it myself.

Ah yes, thanks Fred. I too have heard good things about this display.
